Suicide Kings (1997) and sport psychology with Dr. Steve Wachs

"Everything your pal Brett said is true. Except he left out one detail. Those dogs... that was not steak they were eating." Today, I talk to educator, coach, and podcaster, Dr. Steve Wachs! We discussed the 1997 cult classic Suicide Kings starring the singular Christopher Walken as (former?) mob boss Carlo Bartolucci AKA Charlie Barret. The movie also has an all star cast of "90's guys" (e.g. Denis Leary, Jay Mohr & Johnny Galecki) that give us plenty to talk about. We discussed the mobster fantasy, codes of honor, affluence and privilege, the importance of Ira, and how to help these misguided kids by getting them connected to mental health and sport psychology resources. We also talked about the misleading title, which may make someone feel uncomfortable and the great resource that is 988 if you are in crisis and need to talk to someone. Check it out!
